The Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) is a national key university directly under the administration of MOE and among the first universities joining the national “211 Project” and “985 Project”. Being one of the top 10 universities in China, HUST is called ‘Southern Tsinghua’ due to its academic strength and location in Wuhan. Developing from 1953 till now, HUST has 11 disciplines and covers an area of over 1,153 acres. With the 72% greenery coverage on campus, it is honored as the “University in the Forest”.
Tongji Medical College of HUST is a medical college co-built by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health in China. Originating from Tongji Medical University, it was initially founded by the German Doctor Bolon at Shanghai in 1907. Now it offers 16 undergraduate programs, 54 graduate programs, 41 doctoral programs and 6 post-doctoral research stations. Medical Imaging, Preclinical Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Chinese and Western Integrative Medicine are all top 6 disciplines in China.
The college posses 3 key laboratories of MOE and 2 of MOH. As a pioneer in the national key subject, general surgery or organ transplantation, the college also has the largest experiment and clinical research center in China. Besides, 1 clinical pharmacological base, 23 institutes, 13 research centers, 19 independent research offices, over 80 teaching and research offices, 5 attached hospitals with 5,400 beds and 1 affiliated secondary health school are under its control. The Wuhan Branch of the Academy of Medical Sciences of China, The Wuhan Branch of the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine, and the German Training Center of the Public Health Ministry are all located in the college.
The college has a staff of 10,000, including one member in the Chinese Academy of Sciences, more than 1,400 full and associate professors and over 1,800 lecturers. At present, 8,800 students are studying on campus, among them, about 500 are international students in MBBS program, which is started and approved in 2007. Each year, this program attracts about 100 students from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe.
The college has established a friendly mutual relationship with Germany for a long time and is the key university in cultural exchanges between China and Germany. In addition, relationships of inter-university project cooperation have been formed with more than 40 universities, institutes, hospitals and companies in Germany, US, Japan, Canada, Sultan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the WHO and the Children's Fund of the UN.
Tongji Medical College has made great progress in scientific and technical exploitation. It set up the Tongji Bloc Company of Science and Technology in 1993 and there are 36 enterprises under its control now. It is the first college in China to own developed Sino-foreign joint venture enterprises, and Tongji-Meiji Medicinal Co. Ltd. a Sino-Japan Joint Venture, is the first pharmaceutical enterprise of joint venture in Hubei Province. In addition, the college has developed the buildings along three streets into shops for science and technology trade. All of these have been providing a powerful guarantee for the college to construct the key subjects.
HUST is recognized by WHO and the graduates of MBBS program are eligible to take the Medical Licensing Examinations held by the medical councils in different countries such as MCI, PMDC, USMLE, HPCSA, SCHS etc.
This program lasts for 6 years. The 1st year would be the Pre-Med Education for Chinese language training and English instruction of high school level courses in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. After that, there will be the medical courses in Tongji Medical College and the last year is for clinical practice.
From 2012, the university adopts the new teaching arrangement: 2+2+2, which means that the language of instruction in the first two years is completely English, for the next two years is combined English and Chinese, and for the last two years is completely Chinese.
Note: Every semester's curriculums will be adjusted according to the university arrangement at that time.
Human Anatomy, Histology and Embryology, Medical Microbiology, Medical Immunology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pathology, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Diagnostics, Internal Medicine, Surgery.
The internship is arranged in the last year and students can do the internship/training only in China. HUST would help students choose one of the affiliated hospitals - Tongji Hospital and Xiehe Hospital.
The tuition fee for the internship year is RMB 40,000 per year. And, students have to take the final examination on Theory Test and Clinical Evaluation. Note: In order to communicate well with Chinese patients during internship, students had better achieve HSK level 5 before you do your internship.
MBBS Degree: There are no requirements on HSK level for students to get the diploma. But before internship, students need to pass the HSK Level 5.
On completing the requirements of the teaching program and passing the graduation examinations successfully, international medical undergraduates will be granted a graduation certificate and conferred a medical degree by HUST, if they meet the degree regulations of HUST. The English copy of the degree will state MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).
Internship and Career
The internship is arranged in the last year and students can do it only in China. To communicate well with Chinese patients, students need to pass the HSK Level 5 before internship.
HUST would help students choose one of the affiliated hospitals - Tongji Affiliated Hospital and Union Affiliated Hospital.
Both of these two hospitals are top-ranking in China. Complete medical departments, solid technological strength, advanced diagnostic equipment and rich clinical experience make them China’s standardized clinical teaching base, as well as the diagnostic and therapeutic center in central China. The Union Affiliated Hospital was built in 1866 as the large comprehensive hospital directly under the MOH. It is of level A Grade III with 4,600 beds. And Tongji Hospital was set by the German Doctor Bolon in 1900 in Shanghai. Now it has 2,500 beds, of Level A and Grade III.
The tuition fee for the internship year is RMB 40,000 per year. And, students have to take the final examination on Theory Test and Clinical Evaluation before graduation.
After obtaining MBBS Degree, the graduates can apply to take the medical licensing examination in the medical council in order to get registered and practice medicine. According to the regulations in different countries, the students may need to do the degree accreditation first. A MBBS degree holder can find jobs in government as well as private hospitals, nursing homes and other health facilities. Except this, one can also start his own clinic or pursue study for maste's degree.

Online Application Procedures
To complete the online application process, you need to follow the four main sections below:
1. Click 'Apply Now' button on this page and login, if didn't have the account, register first.
2. Fill out the online application form with real and correct informaiton, including personal information, education background, language proficiency, etc.

3. Upload the required application materials
Please upload photocopies of required application materials according to the university's admissions criteria.
All the materials should be MS-Word (.doc), Adobe PDF (.pdf) documents, image files (.gif, .jpg), or compression files (.rar, .zip). Each file cannot exceed 8 MB (megabytes)
4. Make payment
CUCAS offers five types of payment methods. Please carefully select your preferred payment method and to make the payment.
Students who choose Western Union or Bank transfer as their payment method need to upload the payment receipt after you wire the money at the post office or bank.
5. Submit application
Please submit your application once the application fee is confirmed by CUCAS. To submit your application, please access My CUCAS-> My Applications by logging in CUCAS, click 'Continue' at 'Application Status' column, and go to the 'Submit Application' section. You will see a big 'Submit' button. Click the button and your application will be sent directly to the university.
Once you've submitted your application, please wait 2-4 weeks for the university to process your application. Once the university has made a decision, CUCAS will notify you by email. You can also track your application status by logging into your CUCAS account.
Offline Application Procedures
The steps for 'Apply via Email' are as follows:
1. Choose a MBBS program；
2. Click “Apply via Email” to download the fillable application form and documents;
3. Open forms in MS Word and fill in required information electronically, please make sure the information is accurate and correct to receive your JW 202 form;
4. Send us the completed form and other required application materials;
5. Pay the Application Fee and CUCAS Processing Fee, keep the receipt;
6. Send us the copy of receipt, and the school will process your application once receiving your bank receipt;
7. Check your application process via email periodically, and track with your admission status;
8. Wait for your admission notice from CUCAS within 5 workdays, and the JW 202 form will send to you in 2-6 weeks;
