Academic Strength and Environment
Weifang Medical University (WMU), founded in 1951, is a public medical university owned by Shandong Province. It is located in Weifang - Kite Capital of the world. Weifang is a beautiful city with temperate monsoon semi-humid climate.
WMU covers an area of more than 1.3 million square meters, with 650,000 square meters’ construction area and the students on campus has amounted to 18,000. As a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary medical university, WMU offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs in 16 disciplines, inclusive of medical sciences, health management, general sciences, law, literature, etc. It is also one of the universities which are authorized to hold HSK test.
WMU has an excellent teaching team. At present, the teaching staff members’ amount to 1500 of which more than 400 owns professional titles and 560 with doctor and master degrees. There are 6 doctoral supervisors and more than 300 supervisors for master students. There’s also an Academician of China Engineering Academy, who is the the honorary president of Weifang Medical University, chief expert, and head of Shandong Eye Research Institute. He is the only Academician of China Engineering Academy in the academic field of ophthalmology in China as well as the first Academician of China Engineering Academy in the field of medicine in Shandong Province.
The university has very advanced teaching facilities: Medical Research Center, Modern Educational Technology Center, Computer Center and Animal Supplying Center with more than 21,300 sets of scientific and research instruments which worth over RMB 240 million Yuan. There are 15 teaching hospitals, including 1 directly affiliated hospital. It also has 6 comprehensive teaching laboratories at university level: Morphology, Function, Chemicoanalysis, Clinical Skills, Computer and Human Anatomy, and 16 specialty laboratories like Gene and Histology Engineering, Dentistry and Nursing which are equipped with advanced Imaging PACS System, Digital Network Interactive Laboratory Teaching System and BL-410 Biological Function Experiment System and so on.
The university started to recruit overseas students from the year of 2003 and in 2010, the MOE, China officially approved Weifang Medical University to offer MBBS program taught in English. Till now it has enrolled more than 600 students and among them 218 had got MBBS degree by 2011. Now students from 16 different countries, such as India, Nepal, Pakistan, USA, Canada, Korea, Zambia, Djibouti, South Africa, and Ghana, are studying in WMU.
WMU is listed in the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools and the graduates of MBBS program are eligible to take the Medical Licensing Examinations held by the medical councils in different countries such as MCI, PMDC, USMLE, HPCSA, SCHS etc.
As to the academic exchange, the university has established extensive inter-relationships with many overseas universities such as Western State College, California, U.S.A; Ukraine Kharkov State Academy, Ukraine Kharkov State Medical Academy, Dnipropetrovsk State Medical Academy,Ukraine, RMIT and La Trobe University of Australia, College of Saskatchewan, Canada, University of Occupational and Environmental Health, Japan and St. Martinus University etc.
Program Description
MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery), is a 6-year program taught in English. The purpose of this program is to educate international students to learn basic theories of medicine, preventive medicine, health care and forensic medicine and build fundamental clinical knowledge and skills. It also aims at educating international students to hold the ability of self-teaching, analyzing and solving problems and dealing with common diseases and frequently-occurring diseases.

Internship
The duration of internship is one year (at least 48 weeks). Students need to do it in the affiliated hospitals of WMU. During the internship period, the tuition fee is still RMB 18,000 per year. MBBS Degree: upon graduation, students need to pass the HSK4 to get the diploma.
On completing the requirements of the teaching program and passing the graduation examinations successfully, international medical undergraduates will be granted a graduation certificate and conferred a medical degree by the host institution, if they meet the degree regulations of the host institution. The English copy of the degree will state MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).
Internship and Career
The internship is arranged in the last year and students will do it in the 15 teaching hospitals and 1 directly affiliated hospital - Affiliated Hospital of Weifang Medical University. Before the internship, students need to pass HSK 4 to contact with the patients. During the internship period, the tuition fee is still RMB 18,000 per year.
The affiliated hospital is of the top level and covers 71,000 sq.m, hosting 1,200 beds. Equipped with advanced facilities, there are Dynamic 500 row gem energy spectrum CT, PET-CT, 64 row 64 layer spiral CT, double gradient 1.5 T magnetic resonance, DSA, varian accelerator, gene analyzer, excimer laser treat instrument, flow cytometric, tumor particle knife, automatic biochemical detector and other large import medical equipment more than 800 sets (set), value of nearly RMB 300 million.
And, students have to take the final examination on Theory Test and Clinical Evaluation before graduation.
After obtaining MBBS Degree, the graduates can apply to take the medical licensing examination in the medical council in order to get registered and practice medicine. According to the regulations in different countries, the students may need to do the degree accreditation first. A MBBS degree holder can find jobs in government as well as private hospitals, nursing homes and other health facilities. Except this, one can also start his own clinic or pursue study for master’s degree.
Application Requirements and Materials
Entry Requirements:
Applicants should be high school graduates, age of 18 to 35, healthy, and have English language ability.
Note: Students need to pass HSK level 4 before they graduate.
Application Materials:
1. Photocopy of valid passport (With name, passport number & expiration date, and photo included);
2. Passport photo (A recent passport-sized photo of the applicant);
3. High school graduate certificate (Graduation certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization);
4. High school academic transcript;
5. Resume. (Written in Chinese or in English)

Online Application Procedures
To complete the online application process, you need to follow the four main sections below:
1. Click 'Apply Now' button on this page and login, if didn't have the account, register first.
2. Fill out the online application form with real and correct informaiton, including personal information, education background, language proficiency, etc.

3. Upload the required application materials
Please upload photocopies of required application materials according to the university's admissions criteria.
All the materials should be MS-Word (.doc), Adobe PDF (.pdf) documents, image files (.gif, .jpg), or compression files (.rar, .zip). Each file cannot exceed 8 MB (megabytes)
4. Make payment
CUCAS offers five types of payment methods. Please carefully select your preferred payment method and to make the payment.
Students who choose Western Union or Bank transfer as their payment method need to upload the payment receipt after you wire the money at the post office or bank.
5. Submit application
Please submit your application once the application fee is confirmed by CUCAS. To submit your application, please access My CUCAS-> My Applications by logging in CUCAS, click 'Continue' at 'Application Status' column, and go to the 'Submit Application' section. You will see a big 'Submit' button. Click the button and your application will be sent directly to the university.
Once you've submitted your application, please wait 2-4 weeks for the university to process your application. Once the university has made a decision, CUCAS will notify you by email. You can also track your application status by logging into your CUCAS account.
Offline Application Procedures
The steps for 'Apply via Email' are as follows:
1. Choose a MBBS program;
2. Click “Apply via Email” to download the fillable application form and documents;
3. Open forms in MS Word and fill in required information electronically, please make sure the information is accurate and correct to receive your JW 202 form;
4. Send us the completed form and other required application materials;
5. Pay the Application Fee and CUCAS Processing Fee, keep the receipt;
6. Send us the copy of receipt, and the school will process your application once receiving your bank receipt;
7. Check your application process via email periodically, and track with your admission status;
8. Wait for your admission notice from CUCAS within 5 workdays, and the JW 202 form will send to you in 2-6 weeks;
