Academic Strength and Environment

Xuzhou Medical College (XZMC), located in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, is a public, fully accredited institution of higher education under the direct administration of Jiangsu Provincial Government. Since her establishment in 1958 till now, XZMC has developed into the center of medical education, services, and research in the northern Jiangsu Province and in the Huaihai Economic Zone.

As a leading medical institution, Xuzhou Medical College educates potential medical professionals with professional preparation from the baccalaureate through the doctorate. XZMC provides a collaborative, learning-centered environment in which highly qualified and diverse faculty, staff, and students integrate teaching, research, internship, scholarship, creative activity, and community service. Through intellectual, social and cultural contributions, the college enriches the lives of those in the campus community and surrounding region.

There is one key developing discipline of Anesthesiology supported by the national foundation, 5 other key disciplines at provincial level, 2 key laboratories at provincial level, 4 research institutions, 5 research centers and 19 independent research sections. XZMC also owns a 4000 square meter Animal Laboratory Center with SPF cleaning level.

Since 2001 XZMC has engaged in a great amount of scientific research projects, out of which, most projects were from the National Natural Foundation of China and Jiangsu Provincial Natural Sciences, and some projects from the Xuzhou National Science Foundation. During the past three years, a number of 2565 academic papers were published and XZMC owns their intellectual property of right. Out of these papers, over 1000 were published in core scientific journals and in SCI and EI. 65 monographs and textbooks were also published. Moreover, the college has been awarded many Prizes for Scientific Advancement and Introduction of New Technology by national, provincial and municipal governments.

XZC offers a full range of courses for 18 undergraduate programs, which covers the major medical discipline specialties, including Clinical Medicine, Anesthesiology, Optometry, Medical Imageology, Technology of Medical Exammination, Medical Informatics, Medical Rehabilitation, Preventive Medicine, Nutriology, Stomatology, Oral Restoration Technology, Nursing, Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical preparation, Biomedical Engineering and Public Administration, Medical Imaging Engineering. Anesthesiology and Pharmacology are national characteristics key projects. Clinical Medicine specialty also recruits international students.

XZMC lays great emphasis on international academic exchange and cooperation with experts and colleagues from home and overseas. Scientific Development Conferences have been held to offer a platform for the faculties and foreign colleagues to make academic exchange. Every year a number of foreign experts are invited to visit the college and some of the faculties are sent to engage in advanced studies in developed countries. During recent years XZMC has hosted many international academic conferences and established multilateral exchange and cooperation with research institutions and medical universities from abroad, such as Medical college of Harvard University, the State University of New York Health Science Center, Parker Medical College of Texas, General Hospital of Massachusetts, Medical College of Wisconsin University USA, Medical University of Vienna, Austria, University of London, University of Huddersfield, University of Wollongong and University of Queensland, Australia.

Program Description

Study Duration

5 Years + 1 Year Internship

Objective

The curriculum is prepared keeping in view the needs of the students and the requirements of the country they would come from so that they are competent to practice or go in for post-graduation in their country of origin. The curriculum aims at providing the students knowledge and skills to diagnose and manage patients, develop attitudes ingrained in the profession, develop proficiency and competence to determine and resolve medical and health problems and develop interest in continued medical education.

Course Arrangement

The entire course of nine semesters is divided in two parts:
(1) first four semesters are devoted to the integrated teaching of basic medical subjects. In the first part, the subjects taught would be-Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Community Medicine.
(2) next five semesters are devoted to the clinical subjects. In the second part, the subjects taught would be-Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Anesthesiology, Skin and V.D, Psychiatry and Forensic Medicine and Toxicology

Internship and Career

It is envisaged that the students shall go back to their respective country after the completion of the course for their compulsory rotating internship; however, facilities for completing internship in Xuzhou Medical University shall also be available. Students will do the internship in the following hospitals:

All the fees must be paid in RMB at the beginning of each academic year.

Degree Awarded

On completing the requirements of the teaching program and passing the graduation examinations successfully, international medical undergraduates will be granted a graduation certificate and conferred a medical degree by the university, if they meet the degree regulations of the university. The English copy of the degree will state MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery). The medical degree can be recognized by MCI, MMC, NMC, WHO, USMEL.

How to Apply

CUCAS provides two kinds of application methods for international candidates to study English medium MBBS programs at China's universities. They can choose the quick and convenient online application system or the traditional offline application route-Apply via Email.

Online Application Procedures
 

To complete the online application process, you need to follow the four main sections below:

1. Click 'Apply Now' button on this page and login, if didn't have the account, register first.

2. Fill out the online application form with real and correct informaiton,  including personal information, education background, language proficiency, etc.

If you're not sure how to fill out the form, please check if there are any instructions behind the blank.

3. Upload the required application materials

Please upload photocopies of required application materials according to the university's admissions criteria.
All the materials should be MS-Word (.doc), Adobe PDF (.pdf) documents, image files (.gif, .jpg), or compression files (.rar, .zip). Each file cannot exceed 8 MB (megabytes)

4. Make payment

CUCAS offers five types of payment methods. Please carefully select  your preferred payment method and to make the payment.
Students who choose Western Union or Bank transfer as their payment method need to upload the payment receipt after you wire the money at the post office or bank.

5. Submit application

Please submit your application once the application fee is confirmed by CUCAS. To submit your application, please access My CUCAS-> My Applications by logging in CUCAS, click 'Continue' at 'Application Status' column, and go to the 'Submit Application' section. You will see a big 'Submit' button. Click the button and your application will be sent  directly to the university.

Once you've submitted your application, please wait 2-4 weeks for the university to process your application. Once the university has made a decision, CUCAS will notify you by email. You can also track your application status by logging into your CUCAS account.

Offline Application Procedures
 

The steps for 'Apply via Email' are as follows:

1. Choose a MBBS program;
2. Click “Apply via Email” to download the fillable application form and documents;
3. Open forms in MS Word and fill in required information electronically, please make sure the information is accurate and correct to receive your JW 202 form;
4. Send us the completed form and other required application materials;
5. Pay the Application Fee and CUCAS Processing Fee, keep the receipt;
6.  Send us the copy of receipt, and the school will process your application once receiving your bank receipt;
7.  Check your application process via email periodically, and track with your admission status;
8.  Wait for your admission notice from CUCAS within 5 workdays, and the JW 202 form will send to you in 2-6 weeks;
